Fred W. Calvert 87 Oblong died Saturday December 1, 2000 at 12:50 am

At Crawford Memorial Hospital Robinson. Fred was born on September 28, 1913 in Licking Township Crawford County, Illinois. He was the son of John & Nora (Clark) Calvert. On June 3, 1944 he married Bernadine Smith. He worked in the maintence department of the Marathon Refinery for 35 years retiring in 1975. Fred was an Army Veteran of World War II. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church- Oblong and Oblong American Legion Post #219. Fred loved to fish, work in his vegetable garden and cane furniture.

He is survived by his wife Bernadine; 1 son and daughter-in-law Gary & Darlene Calvert; 2 Grandchildren Angie & Greg Spillman and Brent & Angie Calvert; 2 Great grandchildren Alexandra “Aly” Spillman and Austin Spillman; 2 sisters Ruth Vaughn and Lois Shonk along with several nieces and nephews. Fred is preceded in death by his parents; 1 son Craig in 1946; 7 brothers Harry, Virgil, Lou, Ray, Warren, Vern, Robert and Lowell; 3 sisters Versa Smith, Cecil Propes and Shirley Mae Calvert.

Burial in Oblong cemetery.
